This question is from a member of our community that wishes to remain anonymous:
Our trustees have recently appointed a new clinical director. We are a counselling service supported 100% by grants and foundations.
I have realised that the new director is also counselling coordinator for a counselling operation jointly run by AGE UK and MIND, supported by our council, in the same town that we are based in (and intends to continue this role). They use placement students 100%, so are completely free on delivery, 6 x 45 minute sessions.
We are pay what you can and try to deliver however many sessions we can to ensure better mental health, and don't limit to 45 minutes. I have nothing against this individual, I'm sure they will probably do a good job, but I can't help thinking there must be some conflict of interest here? Or if I'm being overly concerned, please let me know.
There is clearly enough work but I can't help thinking this could be why we never get any council support and have never received funding from MIND in the past.
