This week we are having a quiz night. We decided to sell tickets on a per table basis. (£80 per table for teams of 8).
This has some issues: One person in a team needs to pay for the table and get the money back from the other team members. It's a bigger upfront outlay for the team organiser.
Ideally, it would be better to have an option to reserve a table, and provide a way for the team members to pay individually. (That was my original plan, pay a deposit to reserve a table). Unfortunately most payment services don't include an option to provide a team name.
I am trying out the new ticket option on Give As You Live. Currently have tickets for the table rather than team members. It seems fine / works apart from not having an option to enter a team name. The other way is just sell tickets, but then we would not know how many teams / tables.
The system lets you have different ticket types and set quantities. I wondered about creating a ticket type for each table, with 8 * £10 tickets, so people can buy a ticket for table number 1-10. They would need to tell team members which table, however this gets complicated quickly.
Do others run quiz nights/events? How do you go about selling tickets / getting teams organised? What's the simplest way to do this and collect payment?
