I’m a few weeks in post as CEO of a small charity. The financial state is worse than I was led to believe. Draft budget was showing a very small surplus my reworking shows a worse case but likely 15k deficit and last year’s accounts are at a 35k deficit which the draft budget made no mention of. I like the organisation and feel deeply sad that it’s in this state.
I’ve been advised to leave by others externally but feel a sense of loyalty to the existing staff. Is it my role to see the charity wind down? Have first full board meeting soon so will bring to their attention that this situation needs urgent addressing.
