Our charity has a Governance Scheme dated 1986 which is no longer fit for purpose and needs to be rewritten to update it. We have prepared a new scheme which has the full Trustee Board approval and submitted it to the Charity Commission. They have accepted that the changes are acceptable but that we cannot change the Scheme but instead have to retain it with an appendix/schedule of changes to sit alongside it. This seems like bureaucracy gone mad and I wonder if anyone has any experience on renewing/updating their governance scheme?
