We have a support group which raises funds only for our charity. They would like to have a bank account in their own name as they hold events which require set up costs before the event and they need to pay invoices but without their being a charity or charitable organisation it has proved impossible. We have allowed them to use a dormant account of our charity and they provide monthly reports and the charity's finance manger can only pay out from the account so we have a clear audit trial of payments in and out. However at our last audit we were advised by our auditors that this was not satisfactory. Is there a way that the group can set up with a constitution and get an account without needing to establish itself as a separate charity?
