My career over the past 30 years covers journalism, public relations and fundraising. My skill set includes public and media engagement; report writing; marketing, events and community fundraising, management and budget setting. I am a loyal, hard-working and committed individual who strives to achieve the best in all aspects of my work. I am currently Income Generation Manager for a charity in Cornwall which provides a range of expert care, therapies, information and support to people with Multiple Sclerosis and other neurological conditions. I joined the charity, the Merlin MS Centre in January 2012. I had previously worked for Cornwall Hospice Care, which provides specialist palliative and end of life care at its two units in Cornwall. I was there for for eight years (2004 to 2012) initially as the Head of PR and Fundraising. As the charity grew I was appointed Corporate PR Manager and headed up a 1 million public appeal.
Previous to this position I had a career break to bring up two children I spent four years at home, although I did voluntary fundraising for the children's pre-school.
My journalistic career began with work at a press agency and after completing my NCTJ Proficiency certificate in Newspaper Jounalism, I spent four years in local newspapers in Essex and then moved to London to take up a post as Press Officer and then Senior Press Officer in the Post Office Head Quarters Public Relations Department.
I travelled abroad for two years in 1996 where I worked for a Disability Charity and a Business Publication. After this I moved to Cornwall and spent four years in Sales and Marketing before having my family.
