Apologies for the long post but we have reached our wits end in trying to resolve this. 

Essentially we have Civil Liability insurance which includes PL. We are about to renew our office and surgeries that also includes PL and have concerns about a double cover and therefore not being able to claim. In 30 years we have never needed to claim but obviously want to get this right. Members of the ops team are new in post and this issue has been missed before.

Both our insurers and potential insurances have no answer to this nor do any brokers we have spoken to. What we have been told is. There are no office and surgeries policies that offer cover without Public Liability on the market at the moment.

Our insurer is unable to remove PL from the Civil liability policy and is not aware of any insurer that covers Prof. Indemnity minus the PL as it comes as standard. Our broker account manager says they have had this conversation about dual PL cover with many people recently who are worried about the same thing but there is currently no answer that they are able to provide.

We asked if we can get something in writing where each insurer covers a different part of the PL (i.e Advice only on the Civil Liability policy and trips/falls, etc on the O&S policy). We have been told that this is not possible and PL cover covers all aspects.

We can't be the only organisation this is happening to so if there are any answers out there we'd love to know!
