This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant and lasting difference to the lives of vulnerable women and girls involved in prostitution or at risk of sexual exploitation.

This role would suit a range of people, from young professionals looking to broaden their leadership experience, to senior or retired professionals looking to give something back to their local community.

Our mission is to reach out and help make a difference in the lives of women involved in prostitution and those at risk or victims of sexual exploitation. As an organisation we want women to know their self-worth, that they have choices, empower them to overcome barriers to change and for them to know that we care about their wellbeing, will treat them with love, respect and a non-judgemental attitude.

Women on the Frontline Ministries is a registered Christian charity based in East London. We offer help, advice and practical support to vulnerable women and those who are either in or wanting to escape working in prostitution or any other form of the sex industry.

We provide a drop-in service as a safe haven in order to provide more one to one practical help and support, housing advice, accompanied visits to appointments, advocacy and make referrals as required. A drop-in provision is also available at night.

Additionally, we provide an outreach service at night on the streets, offering hot drinks, gift bags, a listening ear, care and compassion,  and information about relevant services.

As a Trustee, you will share collective responsibility for the effective development and direction of Women on the Frontline Ministries. The Board and the Project Director work very closely to set the strategic direction for the charity and ensure that it is delivered effectively.

Trustees have the opportunity to shape the work of Women on the Frontline Ministries and have a positive impact on vulnerable women living in the East London area.  You will gain first-hand experience of working at a strategic level in a small charity and working alongside trustees with diverse professional backgrounds. 

The ideal candidate would need to be able to make a commitment to the charity, have strategic vision, good independent judgement, integrity and an ability to think creatively. We also value team players with excellent communication skills and a passion for social and human rights issues. We are particularly interested in individuals with proven and relevant experience in the following areas:

·         Branding, marketing and PR;

·         Fundraising and proposal writing;

·         Social media and communications; and

·         Social care or experience working with vulnerable women and/or victims of human trafficking/ sexual exploitation.

Women on the Frontline Ministries is committed to improving the diversity of the Board and believes that representation is important to reflect the diverse communities that we serve. However, we welcome interest from anyone with the appropriate skills to strengthen our Board.

·         Four Board meetings per year and additional conference calls as required (flexible meeting times depending on board members).

·         The term of office is an initial three years followed by an option to extend.
