I am working on an awards ceremony at the moment, for which nominations are being submitted into various categories. When it comes to shortlisting we were initially planning on creating shortlisting panels to review and ultimately decide the finalists in most categories (a few will got to a public vote) and that these panels would be made up of selected internal staff and Trustees.

I would be keen to know if any other organisations have run similar events with a nominations/shortlisting process, and whether you used staff to manage this, or whether you bought in independent people to act as judges, for impartiality purposes.
